Pheasant Run Stables Miniature Shetlands

A Tribute to the ponies and breeders of our organization. We are hoping in the months to come, this page will provide historic reference and photos to those researching their horses' and ponies heritage. It all began last year after acquiring several old "Pony Journal" magazines, and seeking photos of our horses heritage, and discovering that each and every one of our "miniature horses" are descended from a long line of registered American Shetland Ponies, and discovering that the horses we are striving to breed today look very much like the Shetlands that were being bred and shown in the early and beginning years of the American Shetland Pony Club.

Many early breeders have dispersed, some, but very few are still in the business with their children and grandchildren carrying on, you can't imagine how thrilling is has been to acquire hundreds of Shetland Pony Journals, books, Pony Record, original stud books, and other trade magazines from the early 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, including all of our own 90 and 2000 issues and discovering those wonderful ponies, history, and the development of the organization and those that helped it get to where it is today.

Below are historical photos of shetlands that comprise our own Shetland's of today, all have come from multi national Congress Champions and early Hall of Fame recipients, pedigree charts can be found with our horses photos. We will continue to research and add more photos and historical information as we are able, to include information on the early breeders and links to those carrying on their families Shetland Pony tradition.
